CoBank supports the rural energy industry through numerous trade
organizations and regional and statewide organizations, and we continue
to deepen our role with the electric cooperative’s key trade
association, the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA).
NRECA is not only a very powerful trade association, but also a partner
and friend of CoBank, and a valued resource to our rural electric
customers across the country. NRECA is the parent organization of
Touchstone Energy Cooperatives, of which CoBank is a member. Touchstone
is the national brand for the alliance of 636 rural electric
cooperatives that serve the energy needs of over 24 million Americans in
45 states.
CoBank also provides financial support for the NRECA International
program, a rural electrification technical assistance program focused on
bringing electricity to rural areas throughout the world. Through this
program, NRECA International provides assistance to electric utilities
in electric utility reform, training to electric utility executives,
engineers, and other professional staff in cost control, loss reduction,
demand side management, customer relations, and other key technical and
management areas.
