People, Community and the Environment

CoBank Voices: Corporate Giving.

CoBank takes a broad view when it comes to social responsibility. We believe that good corporate citizenship is about making life better for people in the communities where our employees and customers live and work.

Corporate Giving

In 2012, CoBank donated more than $6.7 million to help organizations in communities where our employees, directors and customers live and work. We focus on organizations and events that support basic human needs, help children and young adults and promote health and wellness. CoBank has special charitable relationships with United Way, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Komen for the Cure and Food Bank of the Rockies.

One of the most exciting benefits we offer employees is the ability to annually direct a $300 donation on behalf of CoBank to the charity or organization of your choice.

Volunteerism

CoBank encourages associates to volunteer their time and share their expertise to help those less fortunate and to enhance the quality of life in local communities. To recognize these efforts, CoBank has created the Volunteer Service Award, which commends associates who go above and beyond to enhance the quality of life for others. Annual winners are able to donate $5,000 to the charity or community organizations of their choice.

ECO Program

Through our ECO Program, CoBank takes meaningful steps to be a responsible steward of the environment. For example, we purchase more than 50 percent of the power for our Denver headquarters from renewable wind generation. CoBank purchases hybrid vehicles for our fleet, has a bank-wide recycling program, utilizes energy- and water-saving technologies in our buildings and uses soy-based inks in copiers and printers.
