Continuing Professional
Education (CPE) Credits
CPE
credits are available for the meeting. To file for credit, you will
need to sign the attendance form at the registration desk. As part
of the verification to the accrediting agency, we need your
signature to provide proof of your attendance. Certificates will be
available Wednesday morning at the registration table. You will need to
pick up the certificate before departing the meeting.
Session Information
The Great Awakening: America at the Global Energy Crossroads
Attendees will leave with an understanding of the competing forces
within America’s energy sector. Participants will be able to explain
the business and economic tension between growing demand for energy,
its carbon implications and its cost consequences.
Solar Revolution
Participants will leave with an understanding of the business and
economic issues surrounding solar energy. After attending this session,
participants will be able to explain the options for solar
generation, the associated cost curves and the factors driving the
demand for photovoltaic production of electricity.
Is There Green Coal in Your
Future?
Coal represents the single largest source of electricity generation
in the U.S. Costs for coal generation are going up as a result of
environmental expenditures as well as inflation in construction
costs. Participants will leave with an understanding of state-of-the-art technical solutions as well as their cost consequences.
An Overview of Hydrogen Power
Hydrogen power is a much discussed but imperfectly understood energy
alternative. Participants will leave the session with an
understanding of hydrogen’s potential as an energy source as well as
the potential for a future hydrogen economy.
Wind Power
Wind power represents the largest component of a growing renewable
generation industry. Participants will leave the session with an
understanding of the role of wind generation in the nation’s current
power supply mix and an understanding of the business and economic
factors driving the industry. They will leave the session able to
explain the business and economic case for wind generation.
Greenhouse Gases
The electric industry’s ability to cap CO2 emissions in the near
term represents a significant business and economic challenge.
Participants will leave with an understanding of greenhouse gas
abatement options and how these interplay with the “carbon markets.”
After attending this session participants will be able to explain
key emissions offset issues.
Economic Outlook
After this session, attendees should be able to explain the current
factors driving interest rates and general economic activity. They
should also be able to explain the impact of current global events
on the U.S. economy.
