Economic Forecasts Getting Grimmer

April 2020 - Dan Kowalski

Economic forecasts are getting grimmer as the COVID-19 pandemic grows. The 2003 outbreak of SARS and the Spanish flu of 1918 had three peaks before cases permanently declined. The same pattern is very possible with the coronavirus. If that happens, we will see a W-shaped recovery, rather than a U-shape that is most often talked about now. The longer and shallower the recovery, the greater the fallout will be for individuals and businesses.
