Sharing Success

CoBank’s Sharing Success program doubles the contributions of its customers to the charitable organizations and causes they care about most.

CoBank recognizes that its customers often know best where funding can most effectively be provided to benefit their communities. Every year, CoBank partners with its customers to help build vibrant rural communities. Since the program was established in 2012, CoBank and its customers have together contributed more than $36 million to groups such as volunteer fire departments, local schools and hunger relief programs. In 2019, the bank announced a significant enhancement to the program, increasing the annual fund to $4 million and raising the maximum match per customer to $7,500.

Program Participant Eligibility

Active cooperative customers, affiliated associations and other eligible customers are able to participate. If you have questions about your organization’s eligibility, please contact your CoBank relationship manager.

Application Timeline

Sharing Success applications will be accepted beginning April 1 and will be considered on a first-come-first-served basis. Applications will be accepted through October 31 or the point at which the fund is exhausted, whichever comes first. Applications received after the October 31 deadline will not qualify.

Sharing Success

In general, contributions to any 501(c)(3) charity are eligible for match under the Sharing Success program. Select organizations that are not designated a 501(c)(3) may also be eligible. These organizations include schools and government organizations such as counties or municipalities and their agencies or departments, as long as the donation serves a public purpose and is consistent with the purpose and guidelines of the Sharing Success program. Organizations that are political in nature, limit their activities based on religious affiliation, or discriminate do not qualify. CoBank reserves the right to review and determine whether requests are eligible for matching contributions.

Contributions must be made by the customer organization only. Contributions made by its employees or donations received from the customer organization’s members are not eligible for match.

Number and Amount of Matching Contributions

Each eligible customer may request a match for up to three contributions. The minimum contribution to each charitable organization is $1,000 and the total of all gifts may not exceed the maximum of $7,500.

Application Instructions

Interested customers must complete the application form in its entirety. Electronic application forms will be available on as of April 1, 2019. A copy of the designated charity’s IRS 501(c)(3) tax exemption notification must be included with the application. If the recipient organization is not a 501(c)(3), please submit the organization’s TIN (taxpayer identification number), also referred to as an EIN (employer identification number).

Once an application has been reviewed and approved, a check will be sent to the customer for delivery to the recipient charitable organization.
